Hooray!. My wie joined me in the UK two days ago as her entry clearance came through without any problems. she had a note from the UK Border and immigration agency stating that now they will deal with her ILR application in 2 years time. My question is this: Can anyone please tell me how I go about preparing for the ILR application and where do I find out about what I need and the procedure etc.

Congratulations! You two must be very happy.

Good thing you are preparing for the next steps already. Read and bookmark this page and related links. Also refer to Form SET(M).

NOTE: There will be some changes next year when they introduce probationary citizenship. At this point, it is still unclear how that will impact people. Your wife will most likely be affected. Keep an eye on the UKBA website and this forum.

One more thought, Sean7398:

You might want to encourage your wife to take the Life in the UK Test as soon as possible (if her English skills are up to it - if not, enroll her in an ESL class asap.) The test results don't expire and it is required for future visa applications. Just be sure to keep the original pass certificate...if you lose it, you cannot get a replacement.

another thing start keeping letter and documents in ur name and her's. the old requirement for this was 22 documents within a 24 months period but now changed to 6 documents in a 24 months peiod for SET (M). i will suggest u keep all of them and not just 6 as u never know. i have dedicated a huge space in my wardrobe for these documents. will be applying in july 2009 and already have over 100 documents.
