Citizenship route (naturalization) is not the same as immigration.queries123 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:35 pmThank you for your reply.alterhase58 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:24 pmRecommend you start with the official Home Office guidance, this includes details of the absence allowances:

I did check for this guidance but I am not clear on the 10 years route ILR.
It says for 5 years route?
If you are applying under the 5-year route (section 6(1)), you should not have been
absent for more than 450 days
Via 10 years - ILR holders, can apply just after a year right?
But my question is for 10 years ILR route that the conditions for Absent?
Kindly please clarify me on this so I will be aware?
sorry a bit confused - people usually apply for citizen after a year via 10 years ILR right?meself2 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:41 pmCitizenship route (naturalization) is not the same as immigration.queries123 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:35 pmThank you for your reply.alterhase58 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:24 pmRecommend you start with the official Home Office guidance, this includes details of the absence allowances:

For citizenship, there are two routes - 3 years (for spouses of Brits) and 5 years (for everyone else), so you're falling under 5 year category. Doesn't matter which way you got ILR.
Clear on the 3/5 years path for Naturalisation now!alterhase58 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:47 pmCorrect - the immigration path ends with ILR.
For naturalisation it's irrelevant which path you took to gain ILR.
The 3/5 years "path" relates to the residency you have to prove for your naturalisation application.
Absences are specific to naturalisation only - again your ILR path doesn't come into it, if that makes sense.
You can try. It depends on how excessive it is. Naturalisation isn't compulsory. You can always wait.queries123 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:57 pmClear on the 3/5 years path for Naturalisation now!alterhase58 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:47 pmCorrect - the immigration path ends with ILR.

I had to stay back in India in COVID times, I stayed around 8 moths in a row as lost father in COVID.
Would Home office accept those absence, or any exemption for COVID peak time in the year of 2021?
