Trinity College London Certificate Expired Doc

Post by bizyil20 » Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:43 pm

Hi there,

I applied for British Citizenship last week and paid the whole fee. I can find a cheaper appointment to submit all the documents via the ukvcas on the 20th of May, but my Grade 5 GESE English certificate expires on the 12th.

I'm probably overthinking this, but is this too much risk? What is the official day you apply for the citizenship, on the day you pay or the day you submit the docs & the biometric info? If it's the latter, would it be a problem that the certificate expired 8 days before?

Thanks in advance for your help,
B.

When you pay.

Did you use it for ILR? If yes, doesn't matter - https://www.gov.uk/english-language/app ... ifications
Applying for citizenship
You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK.

It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognised tests. You do not need to take another test.

Your English B1 test must be valid on the date you apply/pay online (the biometrics date is not relevant).
From your flag I assume you are a Spanish/EU citizen and didn't have to prove English before for immigration purposes.

Hi both,

Thanks a lot for your answers. I'm indeed a EU national, but I was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) via the EU settlement Scheme, so I've never had to prove my English language until now.

Thanks for confirming that the official date of the application is the day you pay - I'll book my appointment on the 20th.

B,
