Hello dear forum members,
First of all apologies if I started the topic which was already posted. I have been through immigrationboards for two days now and I think I found what I was looking. I just need a confirmation if I am getting information I read correctly. Ok, so this is my case. I lived in the UK for over 10 years and my son was born in the UK. My whole family moved out in 2019 to live in EEU country. When my son was born he wasn't eligible for British citizenship because me and my wife ( both EEU nationals ) hadn't been living continuously for 5 years. Now I would like to register my son as a BC on the ground that he was born in the UK and after he was born I received ILR under EU settlement scheme. I received confirmation of ILR in 2019 before we moved out.
From what I read on this forum it doesn't matter that we live now abroad as long as my son was born in the UK and I have ILR. BTW my ILR will lapse after 5 years of being permanently abroad but it is not yet the case, I still have over one year for that to happen. So if my way of thinking is accurate I can still register my child as a BC. Could someone confirm this, maybe I am missing something, don't want to cough up over 1000 quid only to find out that I overlooked something basic.
Cheers guys
