Travel while waiting for naturalisation (baby)

Post by Elisa8386 » Sat May 13, 2023 10:08 pm

We are waiting for our baby's naturalisation. But we have international travel plans. I have settlement and my husband a tier 2 on my name. Baby's BRP has expired in mean time. Is there any chance that we would be able to travel internationally (baby has a SA passport). Can we apply for a brp extension while there is also citizenship application at Home Office already so that we can travel?

Presumably you applied for baby's registration (form MN1)?
You can apply for a new BRP, however this could take a few months - there are no extensions available for BRPs.
Without a valid BRP carrier will refuse boarding for the UK. Perhaps reschedule travel?

You should've applied for extension for a child in advance via the category you used before. Registration application in itself has no bearing for international travel, however it doesn't provide any right to stay in the country on its own either.

Where was baby born?
