ILR for husband- Visa Extension for wife

Hello All,
My husband will be applying for his ILR in the first week of July. Our BRPs expire on the 20th August. I am not yet 5 years in the UK and will not be 5 years until 2024. However I need to extend my visa. The question I wanted to ask is - do I apply for an extension now or wait for my husbands ILR to be approved before I apply. Bear in mind it might take a long time before the ILR is approved.
We were thinking to just apply now - your advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is your immigration route? Any extension is only granted until the expiry date of the main applicant unless the main applicant has ILR.
