Spouse visa options

Post by Mikey03438 » Wed Jul 05, 2023 11:30 am

Hello, I just wanted to check if I was aware of all the options for my wife as we have recently got married.

We have moved to the UK after recently marrying abroad. As we took the chance to travel for a while we have no recent work history (I have 2 month in a new job now). And we don't have the funds to meet the £62500 necessary for the visa.

Is there any other options for us as she is currently in the UK with me as a visitor but it's looking likely that she won't be able to get the visa or any sort of rights to work until I have completed 6 months at my new job.

She is a French national.

Why advice is appreciated greatly,

Thanks!

Firstly, she will need to leave the UK and go back to a country where she has a right of residence in order to apply for a spouse visa. One can't switch from a visit visa to any form of residence visa inside the UK.

Secondly, yes, if the plan is for her to move to the UK, you will need to show at least six months of a fixed salary or 12 months of variable income for her to apply for a spouse visa. There is no getting past that requirement.
