India OCI Application - eVisa validity

Hi,

I have a 1 year eVisa already issued for visiting India and have a plan to travel to India end of this month for a couple of weeks. Now, if I apply for OCI next week, will my eVisa be still valid for travel to India (while the OCI application is in process)?

Also, if the OCI gets granted while I am in India, will that invalidate my eVisa instantly? Will I be able to exit India without FRRO approval?

Finally, when I apply for OCI - do they take the original British passport and send it back to me later by post? Or it is just a copy that we need to submit with the original just shown for verification at the VFS counter?
