Is it 180 days or 6months per visit

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding my parents' visit visa. The visa has been issued for 6 months, and I have already booked their flight tickets within the validity period. However, upon reviewing the dates, I realized that the total duration is 181 days, including the entry and exit dates. I am unsure whether they are allowed to stay for exactly 180 days or the full 6 months. Could someone please clarify this for me? I would greatly appreciate any insights or experiences you can share.

Did they state in their application they're coming for 180 days?

I would say as long as you're in allowed period, you're fine, but the fact that your parents come for the whole duration of their visa will be a red flag when applying for a new visa - ECO might think they aim to "live in the UK through frequent and successive visits", while visa is for visiting.

They stated 4 months on application but due to change in circumstances we have changed the dates, we are planning visit to India so they wants to fly back along with this. On visa It been mentioned 6 months then i realised its more than 180 says to calculate.

Firstly, they must leave before the last date stated in the visa vignette stamped into the passport. Staying beyond that date may cause issues and refusals to any future visa applications down the road.

Secondly, for the purposes of immigration rules, a month is defined as 30 days. So 6 months is 180 days.

And finally, the fact that they have stayed beyond the time that they stated on the visa application form will discredit the time duration that they enter on any future visa application. It is a factor that ECOs can take into account when deciding future visa applications.
