Me and My Wife - can anyone give advice?

Post by harvy2001 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:41 pm

Hi ALL,

Let me explain the situtaion,

We got Married at the end of 2006 in Canada and got a Marriage Visa - this gave my wife two years - this visa is due to exipre early January 2009 (wife is canadian passport)

We both live with my parents, I pay towards some costs. (phone bill, sky tv and broadband and stuff like grocery shopping)

The only letters my wife has in her name is bank statements, and some pay slips from work.

I have some letters from work BUT a big problem I have is I have no bank statments all my stuff is done via online banking, how the hell do I show them by bank balance, this is also a problem, we have been struggling the last 3 months because my wife lost her job as the company relocated miles away and Ive actually got overdrawn to cover some costs, will this look bad for me? we have balanced our finances ok, her account is fine, but mine is overdrawn, the really bad part is that my wife cant work cause even though she passed an interview for a fulltime job they refused it to her once they saw she only had 2 months of visa left, should we also send a letter explaining this situation?

Can I send photos of birthdays to show we have been together for 2 years also as proof? or anniversay pics? holiday pics?

I was going to get my father to write a letter, saying we live with them and share costs etc , can anyone give advice.

BTW I am not appyling for my wife to live here permanently, we opted for the visa extension, cant afford £900 at the moment, this is not the only reason we may move to canada in the next two to three years, our plan always was to go after working for a while in the UK with some good experience on my cv before I left.

Im about to send the paperwork but would love some decent advice.

Please if you can think of anything I can add to make our application a success most appreciated.

The real problem is we never bothered to read up on this stuff, or I would have opened a joint account ages ago and kept letters around.

I mainly do all my bills online (paperless).

Ask your bank to provide you them. .They may charge you fee but it's worth of getting as you will need them.
Ive actually got overdrawn to cover some costs

You can print off your online bank statements and take them into the branch to have them signed. However, it won't look good if your account is overdrawn. If you're struggling to maintain your wife I'm not so sure you would get an extension to the visa. Can't she get any old job just to tide you over?
