Visa Query

Post by Issagenius1688 » Wed Aug 09, 2023 6:09 pm

Hi all, Irish Citizen here by naturalisation hoping to invite my nephew whom I have been supporting.

And was wondering can I bring him over as a dependent?

How old is he and are you his guardian?

He's only 16, he lives with my mother back in Kenya. I have been the one supporting both of them financially and it's my dream seeing him enroll his degree in Dublin.

I don't think there's an easy way to get him over here as your dependent, if there is one at all - in the eyes of the law, he has his mother to take care of him, who is the person responsible. In the Guide, dependent people you could bring over are your elderly parents.

It might be more feasible to get him into Ireland as an international student then.

@meself2 thanks so much for your advice regarding my query.

My main aim to bring him over is for college, meaning student visa it is.

Read up on https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming- ... tudy-visa/ and other relevant materials.
Your nephew would have to pass their English test for an acceptable level (or do a foundation year) and show proper funding (10.000 euro I think) per year; you can act as his sponsor I assume, but get ready in advance.
