It's generally bad practice to allow your documents to expire before you consider renewing them. Days like this proves that.isaac2k2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 2:03 pmHi, I was in the process of applying for a new job only to discover that my BRP had expired last month. I tried to quickly renew online but was asked for my passport which also expired since I didn't think I needed it. I would appreciate if anyone could guide me on what I should do now. Thanks.
Wow I didn't know about this. If I may, is it better I apply for the British Passport at once?zimba wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 3:42 pmSince April 2022, physical BRP cards are NOT an acceptable form of proof of right to work in the UK. However, an employer must accept a Positive Verification Notice (PVN) obtained via ECS. The guide from UKVI is clear on this: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... o_Work.pdf
You can't apply for British passport. British passport is for British citizens.isaac2k2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 4:19 pmWow I didn't know about this. Ah I see, I have only travelled outside the country to France for work related trip and it was just for a week. You can't apply for British passport. British passport is for British citizens.
You can apply for naturalization, if you want to and satisfy the requirements (eg absence) but it's entirely up to you.
Do I need a lawyer for this or I can just apply for me and my wife? Also my daughters where given birth in UK but that was before I got my ILR and they refused to give them British 4 year ago when I applied. Now they are 13 years and not sure what else to do.
You will do fine by starting to do the application and asking any questions or clarifications here.isaac2k2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:26 pmDo I need a lawyer for this or I can just apply for me and my wife?
