BRP Expired Last Month (I have ILR since 2013)

Hi, I was in the process of applying for a new job only to discover that my BRP had expired last month. I tried to quickly renew online but was asked for my passport which also expired since I didn't think I needed it. I would appreciate if anyone could guide me on what I should do now. Thanks.

You'd be best to renew your passport regardless of the outcome, but as process depends on your nationality, nothing but this generic advice can be given here.

It's generally bad practice to allow your documents to expire before you consider renewing them. Days like this proves that.
In your case, if the renewal system requires a valid passport, then there's no way around it. You have to provide that.
ILR BRP renewals could take up to 6 months.

I'm not sure any company HR would want employ you with an expired ILR BRP. That's if you even get selected after the interviewer sees your expired BRP. Even though your ILR status is valid in the UK, the employers don't know much about all that.

You would need a valid BRP for them to feel at ease.
If you were British and had an expired Passport, that's a different case.

If they want one that bad, then that individual gets to that stage of verification. If they (company) don't, well, you defo don't get that far.

I have see a case (pre-Brexit)where a recruiter was asking my friend on a UK spouse visa if he would be leaving the UK after Brexit. Because he noticed that his BRP shows he's dependent on his spouse.
He had to educate the recruiter that his spouse is actually British and that's why he has a spouse/cp endorsed on his BRP.

Most of this fellas don't know the rules and they can't be bothered to check. Too much unnecessary work.

Wow I didn't know about this. If I may, is it better I apply for the British Passport at once?

You can't apply for British passport. British passport is for British citizens.
You can apply for naturalization, if you want to and satisfy the requirements (eg absence) but it's entirely up to you.

Ah I see, I have only travelled outside the country to France for work related trip and it was just for a week.

Do I need a lawyer for this or I can just apply for me and my wife? Also my daughters where given birth in UK but that was before I got my ILR and they refused to give them British 4 year ago when I applied. Now they are 13 years and not sure what else to do.

No need for a lawyer. Adults who have held ILR for a year can apply to naturalise as British online using form AN: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... onality-an

Children do not naturalise, they get registered as British. After a parent gets ILR, the UK-born children can be registered as British using form MN1. Apply using form MN1:https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/mn1

You will do fine by starting to do the application and asking any questions or clarifications here.
You need to have at least ILR before you can apply for children.
