Visitor visa

Post by byteorder99 » Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:55 pm

Hi

Please guys kindly help me.

I am a woman doctor in Suffolk, UK ( a British citzen) and I am inviting my sister for 12 day visit on a visitor visa and she is a teacher in goverment high school working since 2012 on a £815 per month salary.

She want to visit me in November.

My sister live alone, her son and daughters (both adults both work in Canda) and husband(works in Australia) and Father retired(in India).

The following are the documents as a sponsor I am thinking of submitting:

1. Invitation letter
2. British passport copy
3. 3-bedroom house ownership (registration)
4. Mortgage letter
5. Bank statements 6 months( with £31K in Barclays current account)
6. last 6 months pay slips

My sisters documents:

1. Passport
2. Bank statements 6 months( with £6132 in current account + £1200 in saving account)
2. last 6 months pay slips
3. Letter from employer confirming paid leave, salarym role and length of employment
3. Australia viist visa copy from a trip in 2017
4. Travel itinerary

She owns a house but getting the documents to prove and translation is uphill battle given the time.

Her Finances per months are:
net salary : £813
outgoing : £320

Planned visit Delhi to LHR ( she will be staying with and take care of meals and local travel, mainetanance)
Proposed visit 12-day
tickets Delhi to LHR around £750(on google flights; but we will buy after a visa grant) using the visit dates + £70 x 12 + unexpected expense = £1800

(a) Does putting £1800 on the application is too low are we risking ?
So I am thinking her contribution is £600 and mine £1200, does that seems reasonable guys ? ( I need help here what is a good combination).

Though, I have set aside £3000 for her trip but I have seeen at this forum filling a large sum on the application is seen odd.

(b) Tough she dont have any dependent thinkinh of attaching a table in the cover letter to show whereabout of the family, if neeed:
Name, relation, full adress, contact telephone, country
A, husband, street1, 6767, AUS
B, son, street2, CANADA
C, daughter, street1, CANADA
D, Father, street3, INDIA

questions:
- What you guys recommend the above table for the application or not needed:
- If yes, do we need passport copies of the above persons ?

It goes beyond the amount you her putting in the form. He personal, financial circumstances and evidence of strong ties to home country plays a big role. How do you address strong ties to her home country that will incentivate her to return after finishing the proposed visit?

Many thanks AmazonianX :D

I was thiking that her stable (over a decade ) job would be one of the incentives, and importanlty our father in India.
Quick question please, do you think given her finances the numbers for her trip seems proportionate or sensible ?

I would include a property deed or ownership document of every property the applicant owns as a proof of ties to the home country, not only finances are relevant here.

If you've read other related posts, you might have noticed that the ECOs put emphasis on assessing both finances and other "personal circumstances" of the applicant. Those other circumstances are related to jobs, assets,... possibly family.

A cover letter saying that every family member is living in a different country doesn't make any sense. How this would demonstrate strong ties to the home country? In my opinion, this would have the opposite effect and make the application weaker.

On the other hand, if she is looking after her father, it would be helpful to explain this in the application as a reason to come back home.

I think the job is stable enough. Personally, I think her finances are in order. Considering her location.

State in your letter of invitation that you would be responsible for her general upkeep whilst here in the UK. That's why you've evidenced your finances.
2. Bank statements 6 months( with £6132 in current account + £1200 in saving account)
I hope that there hasn't been a sudden upsurge on either account in the last 6 months?

I think that's too much. You might disagree with me, but my maths is this.
Ticket from India you said £750.
She would be staying at yours; £0 accommodation
Food £0
Monthly salary; £813

You don't want to spend over 2 months salary on a 12 day holidays. Not that she can't afford it, these guys just think it don't feel right.

Apart from ticket expenses, she could say she coming to the UK with £150.

That takes us to about £900 round trip. Just above the monthly and understandable that she's not breaking the bank.

Once the visa is granted, she can come with a £1000 is she wants to, and you can add whatever you like to help with the travel.

Getting the visa is the 1st step, and the most important step.

Awesome Ticktack

I agree, good suggestion !!

Just to clarify applicant's net monthly salary is £813; and
she spend £150 and I as a sponsor contribute to ticket (£750)

As per the application form:
>> How much money are you personally planning to
spend on your visit to the UK?
- £150
>>How much money will they be paying towards your
visit?
- £750 ( sponsor's contributing or cost to sponsor; buying a ticket for her)

£750 + £150 = £900 for a 12 day visit, Do we take this as the total cost of the trip to us both ?
which is not in the application form but seems implied from the above.

The monetary questions are very similar but different. How much for ticket, how much for living expenses, how much to you personally? Regardless of what, stay within that ball park.
Key important things you need to remember!
1. She can actually afford the whole trip payment by herself if need be.
2. She has an accommodation to stay at when she arrives the UK.
3. She wants and needs to go back home, because she has a job she loves and has always returned to. So letter from her office stating that she's on leave and has informed that she might be travelling to the UK to see her sister for 12 days helps.
4. You can afford to help with her ticket as you earn enough and also have savings.
5. She has a family support system. Can't remember but I think they ask where the kids are located. She needs to say the truth. It's not always a bad thing that the kids live in foreign countries. This is 2023.
6. She has travel history.

Honestly, I feel good about this one.
