Naturalisation application for my wife

Post by ng2023uk » Fri Oct 20, 2023 4:16 pm

Hello,

I recently received ILR for wife. It was through 5 years spouse of british citizen route.

As always this forum was a great help to us.

I will soon be applying for naturalisation application for my wife and I have couple of queries:
Does she need to wait for 1 year on ILR before applying for naturalisation application?
What is the fees for Naturalisation application?
Is there a super priority or priority service for the naturalisation application?

Thanks In advance!

Thanks for your quick response. For Naturalisation application does she need to send her passport? If not then is she allowed to travel outside UK after sending the Naturalisation application?

Also is there a guidance to calculate the absences outside UK? For example if she left UK on 10 March 2023 and her flight reaches destination on 11th March 2023 and if her flight landed back in UK on 15th march 2023 will this count as 4 days absence or 5 days absence?

No need to send passport; sha can travel (it's not an immigration application).

Don't know guidance on absences (wait for others to give more information), but afaik arrival/departure days don't count.

Absences are simple for naturalisation- the day out and day of return in the UK don’t count irrespective of when arrival or takeoff was. So it’s 4 days in the example. Shouldn’t really be a critical issue.

Also note processing target set by UKVi is 6 six months but typically it’s between 3 and 6 months, sometimes 6++ months.

Hello,

I have another question regarding the referees for naturalisation. Is there a specific requirement as a profession of these 2 referees? If yes is there a acceptable list of professions for the referees?

Thanks!

She can travel after the application is submitted but has to attend the biometrics appointment in person.
