Please confirm if my residency calculation is correct

Post by MadMaxAdonis » Tue Oct 24, 2023 12:01 am

Hello,
I got my Stamp 1G on 26-Sep-2018. I believe the clock starts from that date. This is a summary of my calculation.
Year 1: 26-09-2018 to 25-09-2019. I was outside of Ireland for 12 days.
Year 2: 26-09-2019 to 25-09-2020. 0 days outside of Ireland.
Year 3: 26-09-2020 to 25-09-2021. 0 days outside of Ireland.
Year 4: 26-09-2021 to 25-09-2022. I was outside of Ireland for 49 days.
Year 5: 26-09-2022 to 25-09-2023. 0 days outside of Ireland.

Therefore in order to meet the residency requirement, I need to count 49 days from 26th Sep 2023 which leads to 14th November 2023. So I can lodge an application after 15th November 2023.
Please confirm if my understanding is correct.

After Stamp 1G, I was on Stamp 1 and Stamp 4.

The residency requirement has been upped to 70 days recently.
I'd stay for a bit longer to be on the safe side, but you should be fine applying now, technically.

Oh. I thought this was only for the last year before lodging an application. 70 days is applicable for all the 5 years please?
