Tier1 Dependant maintenance query

Hi friends,

I am a Tier1 (General) visa holder got in Indiain sept.08 and I am in UK since October 2008 and started working now.

Now, I have plans to apply for Tier1 dependant visa for my wife and my kid in another 2 months time. Please help me in clarifying few queries which is as below:

1. For my wife and my kid I am maintaining £3200(half in my indian S/B account and another half in my wife's S/B account).

Please clarify me whether I have to maintain £2800 again for me for 3 month period along with my dependants maintenance or no need to maintain any amount from my side other than £3200.

2. when I have applied for Tier1 application , I have shown maintenance funds of £2800 in my UK account,but now I am maintaining funds for my dependants(£3200) in indian S/B accounts. Please clarify me whether I have to maintain funds in my UK bank account only or the indian bank accounts are sufficient.

Hi ,

Even I am in the same dilema as to what needs to maintrained. I called up the VFS this morning and they said its 1600 only for each dependant.
Even I was under the impression that its 2800 + 1600.
I would suggest you post a query to publicEnquiries as I did and lets share their reply with each other.

I think it is important to understand why the BHC asks for gbp 4400 if a person has dependants.


One thing I want to ask is, did you show 2800 gbp(for yourself)+1600(for your wife) + 1600+1600(for your 2 kids) when you were applying for the general tier 1 VISA and write in the additional information section that your dependent will join you later
