UK Spouse Visa - Query on documentation

Post by David32431 » Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:59 pm

Hi there,

My wife and I are due to apply for her Spouse Visa extension at the beginning of December and I have a few queries on the documentation required.

On the government website it states about proving joint financial commitments such as utility bills etc.

I have been going through our documents and everything is in my name and we also don't have a joint bank account. I'm stressing now thinking that this is significant. We meet the financial requirements through earnings. My wife has always just sent me money each month as all the bills come out of my bank account. We can of course prove this through bank statements.

I'm kicking myself now for not sorting this out previously.

Also the mortgage is just in my name.

We are married and also we have one child together , a UK citizen born here.

I'm hoping joint bills being paid together is therefore not that important due to being married with a child, but hoping someone could confirm?

During her initial application we were living with my parents so it wasn't something that concerned us previously.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

It's not mandatory to have joint accounts and joint bills. You just need to show letters, correspondences that you both receive at the same address, like GP, official documents from HMRC, DVLA etc.

Documents spaced out covering 3-4 months for a 2 year period. 6 docs each making 12.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
