questions reqgarding English requirements when I got ilr based on tier 2

Post by simplicity79 » Wed Nov 15, 2023 3:33 am

Hi All

I am applying for Naturalisation after ILR following tier2 visa

I wanted to ask few questions

Is this correct application - I mean naturalisation

I also have some questions about English requirements.

Have you provided evidence of your English language ability in a previous application? I have said yes please advise - is this correct

Did you meet the knowledge of English requirement as part of an indefinite leave application made on or after 28 October 2013? I said yes, please advise is this correct

Do you have a degree that was taught in English? I have said yes

Does your degree meet the English language requirement for this visa? I have said No ( Because my medical degree is not from UK)

What will you use to prove your degree taught in English? Degree Certificate

And in the list of documents following the above given replies they are asking me for

degree certificate to prove the level of english required and
a letter to confirm that the qualification meets or exceeds the recognised standard of degree in UK

Please advise how do I respond to these questions and do I need to take IELTS again to avoid the submission of these documents. As far as I know I should not be needing to submit the evidence of English as when I had applied for tier 2 I had submitted IELTS certificate but please correct me if I am wrong and also please advise how do I respond to the questions so that may be I do not need to submit English requirement documents.

Your advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ione more question - can I use the information from IELTS which I did when I first applied for Tier 2 application 6 years ago or do I need to take IELTS again now.

Thanks

if you want to become a british citizen, yes

if you have proved your knowledge on English for your past visa applications, yes

Did you meet the knowledge of English requirement as part of an indefinite leave application made on or after 28 October 2013? I said yes, please advise is this correct if this is what you have done, yes

Do you have a degree that was taught in English? I have said yes if you want to use the English test you did for ILR, you need to answer NO

Does your degree meet the English language requirement for this visa? I have said No ( Because my medical degree is not from UK) This question is not relevant and will disappear if you select NO at the previous question

What will you use to prove your degree taught in English? Degree Certificate Not relevant

And in the list of documents following the above given replies they are asking me for

degree certificate to prove the level of english required and
a letter to confirm that the qualification meets or exceeds the recognised standard of degree in UK

You should be able to use that information if you answer the questions as I highlighted above. Please note you have to have held ILR for a year before applying for cotizenship
