Good Character question for British Citizenship

Post by iga » Wed Nov 22, 2023 2:49 pm

Hi all,
I am applying for a British citizenship and would like to know if I should declare in the "good character" section, when they ask if there is anything else to declare that may indicate I cannot be considered a person of good character an incident in one of the houses I used to live.

This is because in 2020, with my husband, due to an incident with one of the tenants in the house we used to live with, we went to the police station to inform about that incident. The police open a Police Crime Reference Number but at the end it was closed since he explained us it was not enough evidence and add:
"this crime reference number remains on our records for history should further issues arise in the future with this neighbour".

My questions are:
1. Should I mention this incident or provide the Police Crime Reference Number in my application?
2. Should I obtain the following documetns before I apply to my british citizenship?
- Subject Access request (from ACRO website)
- Subject Access request (from the local police office - Metropolitan Police)

Many thansk,
Iga

You don’t need to disclose this as no action was taken against you, A crime reference number is no indication of wrongdoing. Contact with the police as such isn’t a reason to cast doubt over you.

Dependants not applying with you at this time

Post by iga » Wed Nov 22, 2023 3:03 pm

Hi,
May I please ask your help with the following question?

I am not sure what to answer for the question: Do you have any dependants not applying with you at this time?
I do not have children and my husband is Italian with settled-status from 2019.
We both live in UK from 2007.
He is not applying for a British Citizenship.
My understanding is that, since he is italian with settled-status, he is not a dependant, therefore the answer should be "No".

Questions:
1. Is my understanding right and the answer should be "No"?
2. Or this question refers to partners regarless their nationality, in which case the answer should be "Yes"?

Many thanks,
Iga

Please keep all your posts regarding naturalisation in one thread - this one (have merged your two topics ).
This makes it easier for moderators to see your history and provide further comment if needed.

Thank you for amending my topics.

May I please ask about the referees?
I have aske my line manager and also to the head of the team (who is manager of my manager) to be my referees.
Question 1: Since they are managers of a company with VAT - is it ok? None of them has any of the professions mentioned in the list though.
Question 2: the form also say they must not be related to the other referee, since they work in the same team, one is manager of the other, should this count as "related to the other referee"?
Question 3: Does the order of the referees is important? eg: referee 1 must be the one with the profession standing and Referee 2 the one with british passport?

Many thansk,
Ilenia

2. Related means family relationship, by blood or by law, not work relationship.
3. No.
1. Should be OK.
