New guidelines for AN and MN

Hi,
I am in the process for filling up MN for my children and have heard lot of news on rules changing for MN and AN application.

Can someone please clarify what are the new rules for AN and MN and when are they applicable from?

To my knowledge the main changes that took place are about the good character requirement and, for children, those that were born in the UK to EU parents before 2 October 2020. The good character rules have come into force on 31 July 2023.

I have seen on mainstream media like youtube where the requirements are increasing to be 10 years minimum reseidential requirement for AN from Dec 2023, can anypne confirm on this and if so is it for MN as well ro just AN.

There is no confirmation of anything yet. Those are ideas being bandied around as of now.

December 2023 is now. No major changes have been laid before parliament. I would avoid using “social media” as guidance. There’s a lot of misleading statements being made. Until changes have been signed into law the current guidance applies.

People talk about changing the rules quite frequently but this is not something that is enshrined in law or even been proposed formally. Best to stick to the guidance published on gov.uk.
