You're correct that it doesn't sound right, because she can't. She has to go back and apply from her country or place of residence. She's here visiting. She can't convert a visit visa to a residence visa in-country. I know she doesn't have a traditional visa, as she's from a visa waiver country, but for immigration purposes, it's still termed a visa.RugbyLeagueHistory wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 9:39 amI have indefinite leave to remain and will qualify for citizenship in June 2024. I have a fiancee who I have been engaged to since 2018, she is from Australia and has visited this country before back in 2018 for six months where she stayed with me and I supported her financially. She has recently come back over for another six months but was asking me about a partner visa/family visa as I am intending to stay in England permanently. I have looked on the government website and they are very vague as usual about what to apply for or what criteria is required. My fiancee was claiming that she can apply for a partner/family visa when she is in this country even though she's visiting but that doesn't sound right to me. Normally I would have consulted with her about this before she came over but she showed up unannounced as a surprise so she had no chance to speak with me about this issue. If anyone could help out that would be greatly appreciated.
