Hello everyone,
I'm in need of some guidance regarding UK immigration, specifically about becoming a dependent on my partner's skilled worker visa.
I'm a 28-year-old American citizen, and my partner is a 37-year-old and is currently in the UK on a skilled worker visa as a psychologist. He is not a UK citizen. We have been in a committed relationship for 2 and a half years, but we are not married. During our relationship, I have frequently visited the UK, with stays varying from 2 weeks to as long as 4 months at a time.
As my partner is approaching their eligibility to apply for indefinite leave to remain in about a year, I am considering joining them in the UK as a dependent. Currently, I do not reside in the UK, and my primary residence is in the United States.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights regarding the following questions:
* What are the requirements and process for becoming a dependent on my partner's skilled worker visa?
* Does our status as an unmarried couple affect the eligibility for me to become a dependent?
* Does the fact that we do not *technically* live together and do not share expenses such as rent, utilities, etc., mean that I am ineligible?
* Are there any special considerations or documentation that I should prepare, given my frequent visits and our respective nationalities?
* Any tips or experiences shared by those who have gone through a similar process would be incredibly helpful.
Thank you for your help and support.
