Referee requirement

Post by nikhilus2000 » Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:51 pm

Hello,
I have a question on the referee requirement of a professional standing. Looking at the document, couple of below are in the list

director, manager or personnel officer of a VAT registered company
manager or Personnel officer (of limited company)

My friend is a sales manager in a private limited company which is VAT registered. His exact title is "Head of National Accounts". Just wanted to confirm that he can be one of the referees? I was not sure whether the exact title matters. Appreciate confirmation on this. My appointment is Saturday and was stressing out!

Thanks,
Nikhil

This is a bit of a grey area - it *should* be ok because it is a position that attracts people with responsibility but it's not exactly what appears on the guidance, which isn't exaustive anyway. Is your referee chartered? If they are that will do the trick for sure. If not, and if they are found to be an unsuitable referee, UKVI will ask you to produce another one, they won't reject your application outright.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately they are not chartered. I do have another contact that I thought of who is an accountant and is ready to act as a referee. However, I have now submitted the form with the details of the referees. Is it at all possible to substitute with the new referee at the appointment and amend the application form details? If not, might have to just take the risk as you say and if they will not accept, they will get in touch for another referee.

At this stage I would probably just wait and see. It might be ok. Do come and report back about the outcome.
