Renewing BRC with settled status

Post by JackAL » Fri Jan 05, 2024 12:03 pm

Hiya, I need some help understanding what is going on.

I am trying to help my sisters (under 18) renew their BRC issues under EU Settlement due to our dad being an EU National (we are not tho). Their BRC is expiring in a few days and they have settled status.
However, I am not sure of what to do. I have tried to find the renewal page on the .gov website but it is for replacement. I assumed it was the same thing. But it seems more like an application for an update than renewal.

As I was applying, I was given these questions:
Changes to your BRC: select what you're applying for
1. To upgrade your BRc issues under the EEA regulations to a BRC issues under the EU Settlement Scheme
2. To change from a pre-settled status to a settled BRC issued under the EU Settlement Scheme

Which is neither. We just applying for new valid ones. 1 doesn't apply to us since we have been granted BRC under EUSS (cuz of our dad as previously mentioned)
2 doesn't apply to them, they automatically got a settled status because our dad has a settled status.

I also read some articles which stated that the renewal service is not possible anymore..since 2021 which is confusing. And now I am lost.

Please help. :? :(

yes, that is what I am doing but it got the bit about 1 and 2. that is my main concern. I have explained it above.

I am unsure what to choose. for now i went with 2 but seriously i do not know if that is right.

when I tried to apply for myself. I was asked if I am applying to replace an expiring brc and i selected that. but for my sisters they did not ask that. This made me confused.

Also their passport has expired. I am assuming it should be fine.

and their brc has 2 days left. I am not sure if I should call it valid. I really want to submit it by tomorrow and upload the stuffs later (which I know is possible).

and again, I am not sure if I qualify as their representative since I am the one filling the form for them and I am the older sibling.

I did this application today for my sister as well and I don't recall all the pages exactly but there was definitely one asking to tell about your current BRC and one of the options was 'It is expired'

Alternative perhaps would be to give a call to the resolution center as well and see if they can tell you anything, otherwise I would choose option 2.
