Taxes

Post by Lifesgood44 » Sat Jan 06, 2024 11:44 am

My grandmother came to America as a teen and I would like to apply for Irish Citizenship thru “granny” law. Does anyone know about how income tax laws work for such a situation?

Irish taxes are residency based. If you live in Ireland, irrespective of nationality, you’d need to pay tax on income generated in or brought into Ireland from international sources (obv that is a simplification - see an accountant for personal advice.)

If you don’t live in Ireland, don’t get income from Ireland you don’t pay Irish taxes, nationality is irrelevant. Again, simplification - see an accountant for personalised advice.
