You may declare it or not. Several cases like yours on here.Hardeep wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:52 amDear all,
I am preparing to apply naturalisation .
I have a question.
I had non payment of council tax back in 2016 .i was responsible to pay the council tax as i was main Tanent on the contract.
Then after 2 years rent contract moved to one of my house mate name and I started living at the same property as lodger.
Just recently my societies asked same to check all these things before apply I came to know that I owed to council £51 as soon as I saw it I payed immediately.
The blu online account there was one summon letter which of course I didn’t know that’s why I couldn’t attend.
I called the council to know if there was any court proceeding about my council tax guy over a phone confirmed that council withdraw the application from court and there was no court proceeding.
And recently I received the letter from council that I have paid everything .
My question is filling up application form shall I mentions this whole scenario on the application or cover letter .
And is there anybody who had similier issue and approved naturalisation .
Thanks for reading.
Your valuable advice would be much appreciated .
Thank you for your prompt response.AmazonianX wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:14 amYou may declare it or not. Several cases like yours on here.Hardeep wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:52 amDear all,

You have paid and no court proceedings so either way no adverse effect on application.
Thanks does home office checks these kind of matters as I never miss my taxes in any way.contorted_svy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 10:03 amThere was no court case against you, you paid what you owed as soon as you found out. Unlikely to cause an issue, you can disclose if you wish but in your case it may well not be necessary as you didn't get a fine or similar.
Taxes are a fact of life, even the most conscientious fall behind, or make mistakes, or sometimes get a tax refund because we paid too much. Whilst we may not trust UKVI I can't believe they look to trip you up. Unless you have been taken to court for tax evasion there's no comeback if you haven't been convicted and you have paid your dues no issue.
