Graduate Visa (PSW) Query (DUI)

Post by ch95 » Fri Oct 27, 2023 5:19 pm

Hello, I have currently finished my course and have gotten a full time job in my domain. Three months ago, in July, I made a stupid mistake of driving the car after 2 drinks and was caught by the police. I blew 45 and was asked to pay the fine of 255£ by the court. I have paid the fine immediately and now serving a 12 month driving ban. My question is regarding the PSW, as I'm now scared that my application may get rejected because of this. I have spoken to a lawyer and they asked me to attach a cover letter stating that this was the one and only offence in my life and I have had clean record before this.

What are the chances of my application being successful? Is there anything I can do to improve the situation and improve my chances of attaining the PSW? Please help as I am really worried and have been really stressed about this for the past few months. Thank you.

Wasn't that what you asked the lawyer? It sounds like they have already given you advice on it.

Hi, my friend is in a similar position at the moment. They are due to attend a court hearing for DUI soon and are currently completing their Masters qualification. They still have another academic year to complete and plan to apply for PSW after. Will a DUI hinder their PSW applicatuon if convicted of the crime?

Thread user - did you receive any outcomes on your PSW application or find out any information regarding moving forward with applications if you are yet to apply? Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

As a university student you have access to free professional visa advice through the university, so I recommend asking them.

If you prefer to do your own research, you can look at the General Grounds for Refusal, criminality grounds, paragraphs 9.4.1 to 9.4.5, and the guidance for caseworkers:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... or-refusal
