Spouse Visa

Post by Lewisuk » Sun Jan 28, 2024 1:10 pm

Hi been reading tho this forum for a while and had some great information only just joined today so can post I’m
Sorry if this is in wrong section. Just after some answers please.
I’m trying get my wife over on the 2 year 9 month spouse visa

I’m been out of work for a little while so now got work but not sure best way to go I will be self employed so I will do limited company or self assessment

If I’m doing self assessment it needs be one whole year of tax returns filed with HRMC and I be claiming expenses back so does my income for required financial requirements £18600 ( I know this is increasing ) have be after or before tax after expenses? For example as long as I have only £18600 coming into bank before taxes this will be ok ?

Another way is to go tho a company they set me up
A limited company and I am employed though my company

I pay them a fee each week and they take my tax and insurance out each week (PAYE)
I get wage slips this way

But the wage slips are from the company that sorts out my tax and NI with there address and logo but it shows that my other company name is on it I get paid from (I’m agency worker ) so I’m not employed by anyone
So I believe I can’t use 6 months wage slips here I need to do a years books as a limited company ?

Sorry for long messsge hopefully it’s not too misleading
Thankyou

I suggest reading the official guide on this: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... rement.pdf

You cannot apply under category A if your own company employs you. That requires you to apply under category F or G. The income is the total gross income, before expenses/tax

Thankyou Zimba for your reply
One more question if you don’t mind as your very knowledgeable

I have now set up limited company but employee myself I pay a company each week to manage everything
So I’m on a PAYE
So the agency I work for sends them my wages and this company deducts tax Ni and expenses

But looking on the wage slip they send I’m
Getting tax on my wage after expenses are put in

So for example
I earn £500 my expenses are £200 I’m
Getting taxed on £300 on my wage slip my totol gross pay is £300 but my take home pay is more

What will they look at ?
The totol gross income or the totol amount of money I get paid (net pay)

Because I’m claiming expenses my totol gross income could not sure the financial requirements but my take home pay would be enough to cover the requirements
Also I will get a company tax return end of year

My bank statements and tax return will show more than enough I’m just worrying on my wage slips how there working out totol gross income after expenses have been taken
Thankyou

I repeat this again: Your income is the gross pay on your payslip before deductions or taxes. That figure is used to calculate how much you made. Note that under category F or G, you must provide very specific evidence, covering 12 months that matches your CT600 period on top of your paylips and income.

Make sure to read the section titled 'Director or employee of a specified limited company in the UK – specified evidence' in the guide.
