Renewing FLR visa

Post by rball1212 » Wed Feb 07, 2024 1:49 pm

I will need to renew my spouse family visa. When I first got this visa I was already in the UK so I went to the UKVI's corporate partner to get my biometrics done. When I renew my family visa, will I need to go to get my biometrics done in person again, or will I be able to use the app?

Also, in regard to submission timelines, etc. I see that even if your application is still being processed after your current visa expires, it does not count as visa overstay as long as you have submitted your application before your current visa expires. What do they count as the submission date if you have to go in person to get your biometrics done, the date you submit your application on the UK Gov website or the date all supporting documents are submitted along with your biometrics?

Lastly, I see that it says that up to 28 days will get added to your new visa from your last visa. That happened when I got my current spouse visa (I switched from a student visa, so 28 days got transferred from that). Is extra time up to 28 days always transferred from an old visa to a new one (where applicable), or is there any reason why it wouldn't be transferred?

The day you submit the online form is the submission day. If your visa expires after that, it doesn't matter as you're covered.

It won't be transferred, cause they just don't do it. You would get 2.5 years. Not a day more.

For FLR M don't they add 28 days if you apply early enough? We recently had ours approved and were given 2 years 6 months + 28 days

Yeah, when I applied for my first FLR visa I was switching it from a student visa, and they definitely transferred 28 days onto my new visa.
