Hi all,
Just general discussion, someone (adult from oversea) legally stay in UK 10 yrs, granted ILR, after ILR 1yrs, applied UK citizen.
UK and Ireland are CTA, so UK citizen living, study work in Ireland don't have any restriction. (but UK citizen don't have Irish passport)
Does that mean one of UK citizen legally work in Ireland 5 yrs, will be eligible to apply Irish citizen?
I google
https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/m ... alisation/
it seems that as the adult only can become irish citizen by spouse route?
No any like UK similar route: working, study,--> permeant resident--> irish citizen route?
further google
it shows:
EEA, UK and Swiss nationals
If you are a citizen of an EEA country, Switzerland or the UK, you do not have to enclose a ‘reckonable residence’ calculation with your application. You have to show your residence by using documentary evidence of your history in Ireland. The online application form provides more information.
Does that mean, any UK citizen only provide the 'documentary evidence of your history ' for 8 yrs?
What is it?
google show:
What is documentary proof of continuous residency in Ireland?
bank statements for at least 3 months of each year showing day-to-day transactions or Direct Debits for utility bills. Online shopping transactions are not eligible. an employment letter from your current employer, which includes your name, address, date you commenced work, as well as 3 recent payslips.
So the conclusion: any UK citizen move to ireland, have a bank account and tenancy agreement for 8yrs, then UK citizen can apply irish citizen, so someone will have UK and Ireland dual passport?
