Can a dependant switch to Work Permit Holder visa

I am on a work permit visa with limited leave to remain in the UK. My wife is on a dependant work visa and is able to find employment here due to her qualifications. But most of the jos are permanent. One potential employer is even willing to apply for a work permit for my wife.

But my question is can a spouse switch from a dependant visa into a work permit holder visa being in the UK itself ? This would mean that I will have to change status from a work permit holder to a dependant visa. Appreciate any pointers on this .
