Domestic worker visa

Post by tarig_abu » Fri Mar 22, 2024 7:24 am

Dear Admin,

I would be grateful if someone can give advice on this

I am planning to bring my housemaid during thr summer holiday to the UK from where I am currently working, Qatar.

When I checked the requirements it includes having the housemaid for at least a year before application. However, I have been in Qatar for just a year, and the housemaid is just starting with us, since the previous housemaid was a temporary one.

Will it be possible to get her a domestic worker visa and have exemption from the 1 year employment condition?

Also what other requirements and documents I need to provide to get the approval?

Thank you

Unlikely.
The Government is also focused on ensuring that overseas domestic workers are informed about their rights and immigration and borders staff are trained to recognise potential victims of abuse. Overseas domestic workers must have been employed for 12 months before a visa will be granted and must have a signed statement of terms and conditions of employment in line with the National Minimum Wage legislation. Every overseas domestic worker is also provided with a letter informing them of their rights in the UK and where to get help if needed. This letter is provided in a range of languages as well as English.

Domestic worker visas are increasingly difficult to obtain unless you are a diplomat or attached to an overseas embassy /mission.
There is a general view to refuse if there is the slightest deviation from the requirements. Based on the circumstances you have outlined it would be a refusal.

Thank you for your reply.

It is useful to know that the chances are not great.

Thank you
