Name change

Post by mmsharif » Fri Apr 05, 2024 1:12 pm

Good Afternoon

I am naturalised British citizen and recently I have changed my name through deed poll and obtained a new British passport from HMPO with my new name also changed my name on foreign passport.

Could anyone please answer my following questions.

1. Do I need to inform UKVI (home office) that I have changed my name, if yes how do I contact them?
2. Does updating name change on British passport automatically update home office records as HMPO is the part of home office.
3. Do I need to get new citizenship certificate with my new name or old onr is fine?
4. Do I need to carry my deed doll document every time I return back to UK with British passport?
I would really appreciate if anyone kindly please respond my above question with the best of knowledge.

Kind Regards

The answer to all your questions is NO.

Note that UKVI or Home Office don’t track what British citizens are doing - there’s no central database of citizens that’s why we don’t have ID cards!

Thank you very much for your reply.

So it sounds like I don't need to do anything about it anymore. All done?

Kind Regards
