What if you don't know every address?

Post by _jms_ » Mon Apr 29, 2024 2:02 pm

I'm hoping someone can shed some light. I received the link for the garda vetting and part of this is providing every address you have lived at both here and abroad. I'm a bit concerned because hile I believe I can provide the addresses I've lived at as an adult, my childhood was a bit more transient. Divorced parents and my mom moved alot. I was often shuffled around various relatives around the US. I'm not 100% certain how many times I moved, but I believe it was around 20 before I was 20. I can remember the names of some of the towns and cities, and can recall the various high schools and middle schools I went to but nothing from my younger years. I have no idea what addresses I lived at nor who would have been put down as my guardian at various points.

I reached out to the national vetting office and was redirected to citizenshipinfo@justice.ie. When I emailed them this morning I received what seemed like an auto response telling me how to change my address if I needed to. Nothing in my email mentioned as much so I'm a bit lost. Could anyone advise?

Use street view on Google maps to do the best research you can. Beyond that if you don’t have relatives or documents that can help, use the best addresses you can and best date approximations you can. If you don’t have a criminal record and all the relevant addresses where within one country (or a state if a Federal system) you should be fine. It’s more awkward if you are talking about multiple countries where you can’t remember addresses.

Thank you! It feels so awkward saying "I truly have no idea where I spent at least a 3rd of my life", but hopefully they'll be understanding since I don't have a criminal record or anything like that lol
