Advantages and disadvantages of adding my under-18s application to my own?

Post by gabitter » Mon May 06, 2024 8:36 pm

Hey folks,

As a settled EU citizen, I am applying for British citizenship. I am wondering what advantages/disadvantages I may be facing when considering to attach my children's applications to mine? They are 12 and 14. Is it easier to do this in one go? Or will the application process be easier for them once one of their parents is already a British citizen? Are there any financial advantages/disadvantages? Maybe less admin and faffing around with arrival/departure dates from the UK? Anything like this?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

gabitter

Children's applications (MN1) are easier than adults' (AN) - no tests or absences required for children.
What is the mother's immigration status?
Cost wise there are no advantages - though for children the fees are lower and you save test fees. For everything else all applicants are assessed individually. Note you can apply online on one account, no separate forms required (for children the system adjusts to MN1).
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Were children born in the UK? in principle it is best to apply for registration (when children are minors) rather than when they become 18 if possible but they still have to satisfy some statutory requirements.
