ESOL free - public fund

Post by chunkybeefsoup » Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:51 am

HI everyone

I would be grateful if someone could answer the following question:

I claim tax credits as the British spouse. My wife would like to start an esol course after being here 12 months. I was told the course would be free due to us both claiming tax credits. My question: is this regarded as my wife having access to a public fund which she is not entitiled?

Thanks in advance.

No, there is nothing education-related in the definition of Public Funds, as in para 6 of the Immigration Rules.
