Question regarding children

Post by attraction_93 » Mon Jun 03, 2024 12:26 pm

Hi all,

I have my application ready and I am going to be submitting it tomorrow morning, however for few days now I am bothered by a question, that I am not sure if I answered correctly.
I got married in 1992, had a son in 1993 and got divorced in 2007. I have no other marriages or children. My son is now 30 years old and he is already British citizen.

There is a question in the application "Do you have any children whose birth parent is not your partner?" and I am unsure what should I answer. I believe I should say "yes", because I do have a son from my ex-husband, however my son believes I should say "no", because he is no longer a "child", but an "adult".
What would you advice?

Thanks,
A.

You can answer Yes and explain in a cover note. Won't affect your application I suspect as your son is an adult.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

The answer is No. The question doesn't ask if you Son is a child or an adult. Your son would always remain your child.

The question asks if you have any "other" child, like a step child, or a child with someone else. Since you never got married again, it's NO.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
