Uk spouse visa; how long can we expect to wait?

Post by sarahjfoxy » Sun Jan 04, 2009 11:44 am

My US husband (I am British Citizen) sent his spouse visa application to the British Consulate in Chicago at the end of November, 2008. He has, as yet, heard nothing at all, not even a confirmation e.mail that they have received the application. We can find no way of contacting the consulate and are pretty certain his application was straight forward. We know the application package arrived at the consulate because we tracked it through the US postal system. Is there anything we can do? Does anyone know how we can contact the consulate and actually speak to someone about this? My husband plans to write to them if he hasn't heard anything in the next couple of days.We understand that this type of visa can take up to 12 weeks to finalise but are becoming increasingly anxious about the lack of contact. Any advice or thoughts are welcomed. Thank you.

Yes, we filled in the application online. My husband then attended for biometrics and we sent everything to the consulate the next day. We have the receipt to show that they've received the payment but haven't heard anything since.
