The question relates to you even if the application was made on your behalf. If you have not done a change of name at any point, go ahead and input your name.wonderbread25 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 11:29 pmHi everyone,
I'm currently filling out the Naturalisation form online and I've searched high and low (but apologies if this has been answered before).
I was born in the UK but my parents weren't settled at the time & I got my ILR when I was 9(ish) years old, under my parent listed as a dependent. I've figured out that I need to select 'yes' for the 'previous applications made in the UK and abroad' question but when it comes to the 'Name in which you made the application', do I put my parent name listed or do I put my own name, even though I didn't directly make the application?
I've only got the date of approval rather than the date of application, but as this is an 'if known' question, I'm assuming that I don't have to put it down.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks so much, I'll do that.AmazonianX wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 3:16 amThe question relates to you even if the application was made on your behalf. If you have not done a change of name at any point, go ahead and input your name.wonderbread25 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 11:29 pmHi everyone,

I've lived in the UK my entire life and have never left the UK, so no absences.MissSencho wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 4:23 amQuick question..did you live in the UK the entire time until you were 10? If you did take trips abroad, were these kept to a minimum?
Oh, you've made me realise that I'm filling out the wrong form. I'll do this and fill out the right one this time - thank you!contorted_svy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 11:20 amYou will need your passport(s) covering your first 10 years and/or letters from your GP, schools, etc to prove you were living in the UK as a child.
No problem. Feel free to ask other questions here once you start filling the correct form.wonderbread25 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 1:13 pmOh, you've made me realise that I'm filling out the wrong form. Aw man, I wish I knew this before I took the test last year, now I'm trying to find evidence of my existence from the ages of 1-7 lol.MissSencho wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 4:03 pmYes, you're like me (except for the ILR). Use Form T instead. This way, you don't need to do the life in the UK test or an English test. It is also a bit cheaper.
Lol, I feel your pain. Come back if you have any issues with evidence.wonderbread25 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 9:58 pmAw man, I wish I knew this before I took the test last year, now I'm trying to find evidence of my existence from the ages of 1-7 lol.
Makes sense, I'll go through the naturalisation route instead as originally intended. I was just majorly worried that they'd see my birth certificate and ask for more information/proof that I've been here until the age of 10. Do you think I should state this on a cover letter or just leave it be as I'll be following the naturalisation route?contorted_svy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 10:30 pmYou can apply for naturalisation, you have to prove your last 5 years of residence, language, ILR, life in the UK, and good character, if you can't retrieve documents from your first 7 years of life. doubt citizen advice can help unfortunately.
You can do either. You have options. It won't matter which you choose, as long as you have the evidence to go along with it.wonderbread25 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 12:30 pmDo I have to go through registration or if I go through naturalisation with the ILR.

I didn't have a passport from 2020 - 2022 due to covid and a parent passing away, but I'll dig out employer information, bank statements and GP records hopefully.
Great, thank you for confirming & helping.MissSencho wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 11:41 pmYou can do either. You have options. Ah, thank you for clarifying. I'll dig those out instead.contorted_svy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:34 amwonderbread25 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 11:26 pmMakes sense, I'll go through the naturalisation route instead as originally intended. You don't have to explain yourself. Applicants eligible under multiple routes can pick whichever they prefer.
Bank statements and GP records not necessary. If you have P60s for each year that isn't covered by a passport that will do. You can also request a SAR free of charge.
It was honestly my pleasure.
