Query regarding Student visa.

Post by Goodegg » Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:53 pm

Hi All,

Looking for some guidance on Student visa application.

I am a British citizen and my sister is in the process of applying Student Visa (from India) for the September 2024 intake.
Once she is here, she will be staying with me (and not in an University provided accommodation).

Am I correct in thinking, she needs to provide accommodation proof/details as part of her application?
If yes, what documents can I send to her so that she could include it as part of the application?
Also, does she need to furnish a letter from me stating that I she could stay at my place?

Thank you in advance.

No.

Not sure where you are getting your information from, or why she thinks she needs these things. All the requirements of a Student visa are clearly laid out at the information page and application portal at gov.uk.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

Hi sah10406, thank you for your reply.
The reason I am asking this question is, on the student visa application form, she needs to state the accommodation details/where she is going to live.
When a student opts for a private/accomodation from university, they can furnish some form of evidence, such as tenancy agreement or a letter from university.
But I can only provide what I stated above. Hence, the question.
I mean, I'd be more than happy for us to not to have to provide any such document(s) if it is not required at all, if that makes sense, but, I am/was not sure.

It does not ask for any evidence.

Hi sah10406,

That is true, it does not ask for evidence.
I was just checking if someone has been in this situation and what documents (if any) they had provided at all.

Thanks anyway.

None are required, so none should be added.

Hi All,

Hoping its okay to ask other questions regarding student visa on this thread.

Regarding maintenance/source of funds.
She is going to furnish the bank statement of her account to show proof of funds. Part of the funds was deposited by parents.

My query is:
- Is it necessary to show the bank statements all the way upto the time when the money was transferred.
OR is the bank statement covering 28 day period enough?
- Also, since the money was transferred to my sister's bank account, does she need to provide a letter from parents stating they have transferred the money to support her education?

Thanks in advance.

Given her ongoing further queries about her application, I strongly advise that she seeks professional advice and support from the international student adviser at her university. That's their role.

I know you mean well, but I don't advise you act as her visa adviser when her university provides that professional service.
