Traveling using E visa

Post by Prilim » Sun Jul 07, 2024 6:38 pm

Hi,
I recently got my ILR and will be travelling across Europe in September. Now that e visa is becoming a norm and being implemented in phases. I wanted to know if I still have to carry my BRP with me when I travel or is there anything I must do like produce a share code of some sort to show my visa Status?

If you've got a valid BRP, carry it. Physical is always better than digital (and I say that as somebody who works in IT).
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.

eVisas are NOT used for travel yet and you should ONLY use your BRP to return back and enter the UK :!:

The proof of immigration status is becoming digital and you may travel using your eVisa rather than a BRP, likely from next year. The service is intended to be open to all soon:
The Home Office has launched a phased rollout of eVisas to biometric residence permit (BRP). Initially this is to BRP holders by email invitation only, being sent in phases. The service will open to all BRP holders from summer 2024. Customers with BRPs do not need to do anything unless they receive an email, and don’t need to contact the Home Office if they do not receive an email immediately because the service will open to all in the summer.
Information on eVisas as all BPRs will be phased out from 1st Jan 2025
