Do I have to surrender passport or is there an alternative?

Post by Joshinhosh2000 » Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:56 pm

Hi, All

I need help for my Indian Passport.

I received my naturalization certificate yesterday after 3 months of applying for naturalization, but now I am thinking if there is a way that I do not have to surrender my India passport and rather get a "Certificate Of Entitlement" on my Indian Passport, as my BRP is no longer Valid. So, wanted to to check if it is possible? Or I do have to surrender my Passport ?

Please if someone can help me with my query above.

Regards
-G

This question should be asked in the Other countries subforum as it relates to Indian immigration law.

Most posts are about the Indian requirements on getting British citizenship, and OCI.

It is a requirement of Indian law for you to surrender your Indian passport after acquiring a foreign passport.

You may have issues with Indian authorities if you do not surrender your Indian passport and renounce your Indian citizenship.

The UK is fine with multiple citizenships, India is not.
