Visitor visa for partner’s parents

Post by RachelD1984 » Mon Jul 15, 2024 10:38 am

Hi,

I’m sorry as this feels like a question I should easily be able to find the answer to, but I’m confused.

My partner and I are applying for his parents to come visit, just for a few weeks. We’ve a new baby and we’d like them to meet her. He is Venezuelan on a partner visa linked to me.

We will sponsor them in entirety, and have filled out the form, but on the list of documents it wants us to submit there is no mention of proof of home circumstances, I.e. to prove they will return. His mum is employed by the state as a nurse and his dad is a retired teacher. I was convinced we’d need to send proof of employment for his mum and perhaps proof they own their own home in Venezuela. The form asked us for employment details and if they own the home…. But nowhere do they ask for documentation. I cannnot see it on the list of docs in the guidance either. And the email sent to us says to NOT overdo documents because it can convolut the process so I am at a bit of a loss.
As far as I can tell we just send their bank statements, our bank statements, my partner’s birth certificate and sponsor letters. It seems light.

Is anyone able to clarify?

Kind regards

Rachel

Anyone can say that they're employed, but without evidence, how can you confirm?

The short version of "a could be lengthy message" is, everything you type or say, you have to show proof. Proof of residence, work, family, finances, income, nationality, place to stay in the UK and anything else.

The onus is on the applicant to show that they deserve the visa, the ECO doesn't really care if you get it or not. Visa fee is non-refundable.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
