Hi
I have been following this page from long time and it has been very helpful so I’m posting this today so I can get help from experts or people who are in similar situation.
So I’m British by naturalisation and married to Pakistani wife.
I have applied for my first child British passport from Pakistan for my son and daughter.
Passport applied at Mirpur VFS: 22/05/2024
Email for further documents: 08/06/2024
Interview invite for myself: 19/06/2024
Interview done on 12/07/2024
So my question is what to expect now as many people are suggesting they will ask for DNA or if not how long will they take to grant passport to my kids.
Many thanks

From experience on the UK side passports are generally issued shortly after the interview.
Was there any indication during the interview that they were not satisfield with your answers?
Otherwise I would expect them to be issued soon - not familiar with the VFS process, whether they will be delivered via VFS.
Do you have an HMPO application reference number - then you could check progress on the HMPO website.

Hi thanks for your reply
I don’t feel any indication that they are not satisfied with my answers in interview it’s was very informal kind of interview which went well and at the end of interview they just told me that they will pass it to the examiner and you will receive further email for your application and we can’t provide timeline.
Yes VFS global is like postal service for uk/Europe to send and receive documents from embassies of the country.
I do have the application reference but application was not online it was paper manual application from Pakistan as I was unable to make online from Pakistan.

Then it may be just a case of waiting now, VFS probably adds extra time - if you can contact someone at your local VFS they may have more information (or can contact HMPO for more info).

Thanks for your reply again much appreciated.
Do you reckon they will ask me to provide DNA for me, wife and kids?
The reason is a lot of people are suggesting that this will be next stage of the application and I’m so unsure so if I get help with this so I can prepare and might do it beforehand to save time.
Many thanks

Can't really comment on this - they would have raised it by now - I do know that HMPO can't demand DNA tests from reading their guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... accessible
Probably best not to get stressed about this .....

I would be careful when listening to other people unless they can explain exactly why they were asked/or gave DNA tests .... but read the guidance I referenced above.
Many thanks

Out of the 3 similar cases between last year and now, none was asked for DNA. So the DNA request may be infrequent, far and in between.
Conserve your resources, no need for such preemptive action. There is no need to go for it when it has not been requested and may not be required.

Hi
It was informal kind of interview not a hard one.
They just ask basic questions about day to day life.
* What is my Name ?
* What is my DOB ?
* what is my place of birth?
* who filled & signed the appication ?
* What is my spouse name?
* what is my spouse DOB ?
* what is my spouse place of birth?
* Child Name?
* Child DOB?
* Child Place of birth?
* does any one in our famiy incuding me had name changed before?
* what is the date of Marriage?
* Is there any other children to us?
* what are the names and DOB of other chidren?
* who signed my child application (Countersignature)?
* How you spell countersignature name?
* What does he do in UK (Countersignature)?
* How do I know him (Countersignature) and how long?
* doctor/hospital name and address for her checkups and scans ?
* what is the hospital name of child's birth?
* what is the addess for birth hospital?
* doctor clinic address?
* how was the delivery (Normal/sesorian etc..
* where was I at the time of delivery?
These were the question I answered and the person who was taking interview was quiet friendly so I answered everything comfortably.
Your application took such a long time is there any reason? Like you have to give additional documents?
I will update this post of my next step of application and when passport received.
Thanks

Thank you so much for the response..
Yes its took too long. i submitted my daughters application in September 2023. After that we wait for the response as all stated that overseas application took 6 month.. but in march 2024 when don't when get a single email from the passport office we call them and was surprised to hear no one see the application.. after argument they accept that they receive the application and then the procedure start by additional documents.. like mother's travel history from FIA headquarter.. and then after that we continuously call them after 1 or 2 day gap.
Then in june they required my husband travel history. And again a long wait.....
Really frustrating.
Last week i just complaint about all this. Than today we get email about book an interview...
Lets see what next they gonna do to us.
But for everyone who applied for child passport application.. i want to say please call them after applying the application after a month or 2..

Yes they did took a long time for your application.
I would suggest that your husband do involve their local mp to complain to HMPO and chase them with your application a lot of people did that and with this their application did get sorted out quickly. Hope for the best and keep us posted.
Thanks

Hi everyone
Below is the timeline for my child overseas British passport application
Passport applied at Mirpur VFS: 22/05/2024

Interview invite for myself: 19/06/2024
Interview done on: 12/07/2024

I completed my interview, and overall, it went well. However, it wasn’t until after the interview that I realized I made a mistake in spelling one of my child’s middle names. The name is quite long. I accidentally swapped the positions of a letter. This has been a source of concern for me, but I’m hoping it won’t affect the outcome. I was told that I should hear back within two weeks, and I will be sure to update you as soon as I receive any news.

Hard to know. I would say it is unlikely if you answered all other questions correctly. As stressful as it is you need to wait for now.
