Schengen visa for childrens

Post by kali2023 » Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:58 am

Hi,

I am a UK citizen (naturalized in 2023). I am applying for a Schengen visa through France for my Indian children (holding Indian passports).

When I am filling in the parent or guardian details, it is not showing the option for UK nationality, so I am unable to select my UK nationality. Next to the nationality option, there is a "status" option which includes refugee or stateless person and other similar statuses.

I am a bit confused as to why these options are showing and why the UK nationality is not available when filling in the parent details.

Could you please help me?

Thanks

Try looking through the application again. Be sure you haven't made a mistake somewhere.

I have double-checked, and it is also not showing options for countries like the UK, USA, and UAE when I look at countries starting with "U".

I have tried calling the French consulate in London; however, I received no help as they were speaking in French.

It sorts of make sense, as they'd expect kids of non-visa required nationals to have the same passport as parent. They obviously haven't thought deep enough.

I'm assuming that your spouse is still Indian. In that case, you can use her details and submit yours along side it.

Yes, she is Indian, and I have filled her details in the Parent 2 section. Should I include only a single parent option (which is my wife), or if I have to declare my details, then I have to enter the wrong nationality.

I have spoken to TLS Contact as well. They said they have documented the issue and to check after 5 PM.

Your spouse is applying with them. So you can go with just her details. They'll see in your wife's form that her spouse is British.

TBH, none of that matters. They primarily need to see that you all have enough funds to enter and exit the EU. They also need to know your UK residency status.

I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Other EU countries (like Spain, Greece) are the paper form and all these is easily averted.
