They don't. They used to return passport, but not anymore as you don't send it.

What did you sumbit that you need back?

Hi,

Thanks. Her Birth and Marriage Certificates. What would be the best email to use to humbly beg and plead for their return ? The birth cert could cause problems

Her Birth and Marriage Certificates.
That is a thing you should not have done. I vaguely remember them stating that the documents sent for natualization application will not be returned.

The only known address (to me) is citizenshipinfo@justice.ie ; try going through your TD if no response for a few weeks.

And just to be clear - you mean citizenship application, not passport application? If it's the latter (passport), you'll get your documents back in about a month.

I've got the same impression as well. Yet I'd like to mention that there might be chance that some kind staff from the office would still return certain files to you.

I applied in June 2023 via post and was aware that they were not supposed to return any file sent. Yet I still sent an original file of my birth certificate equivalent[1] and attached a note saying it was fine if that was disposed together with all other materials. Nevertheless they returned that birth certificate equivalent to me together with the acknowledgement letter.

PLease, however, do notice that I'm merely describing my own case merely for your information and this is not in any chance a guarantee.

[1]: My birth country did not start issuing official birth certificates until a certain year. For people born before that (me included) we're supposed to apply for a "notary certificate of birth" in lieu. I applied for more than one said notary certificate just in case. Each is an individual file and original though.

Hi,

Our country situation somewhat similar. But we only obtained the one.

We had a relative back "home" try and obtain another birth cert. But he was advised that we already had the original birth cert and they could only provide a copy. Which they did - All details but marked "Copy of Birth Cert"

If we do not get the unique original back, when applying for the passport we will provide the "copy" accompanied with an affidavit explaining the situation,

And hope for the best

Thanks for the input

John

If that's an official copy issued by government (ie not a scan of an original), you should be fine - I applied with a copy as my original cert was gone for years and got the passport.
