Been told to wait 3 weeks for Approval email

Post by macandersonuche1997 » Thu Sep 05, 2024 7:53 am

Hello everyone,

This week, I received a response from FNE stating that my application has been approved, but I should expect to receive the official letter from Atlas within three weeks.

From what I’ve read online, it’s not official until the letter arrives, or better yet, until the swearing-in ceremony is completed.

I'm feeling a bit anxious—has anyone ever received an email like this that turned out to be inaccurate?

Also, what would you suggest I do? Should I contact my local council to confirm?

The approval email is advisory only, it’s the certicate you receive at the ceremony that confers citizenship.

In general the UKVI approval advice is quite slow to arrive. The council often sends out invitations before it arrives.

You are free to contact the council to see whether they have received your certificate. Appreciate it’s a slow process which is causing anxiety but you are almost there.

You can contact your council and see if they have received your certificate. Sometimes they let you book the ceremony before the official email arrives.

Thanks guys
I'll start reaching out to the council

So there's a low chance of the email I got from FNE being a false email

Good luck. I'm sure you'll have good news soon.
False email? Forged? Or you mean sent in error?
Which email address is this from?

If it comes from the official FNE email unlikely it is forged. When did you apply? The council will confirm if they have your certificate. Sometimes the official Atlas email never arrives at all.

It's from the official Furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk email address

I applied on the 23rd of June

Yea I emailed them yesterday to ask and I just received the following

Dear [My name]

Thank you for the email.

We are unable to comment anymore than the 3 weeks I advised you on the 4th September.

Please be reminded that emails sent from the Nationality Casework teams could arrive at your email account and then may be redirected to your spam/junk email folder/s by your mailbox provider. You are therefore advised to regularly check these folders for emails from your allocated caseworker/case working team.

Yours sincerely

That email is certainly bona fide UKVI style.
I have not seen them before stating a time frame for completion quoting weeks. What is certainly clear is they don’t want detailed or regular correspondence.

This is what I got from them earlier in the week.

Dear Sir

Thank you for your email seeking progress of your application for British citizenship.

I am pleased to confirm that your application for British citizenship has been approved. The next step for you will be to attend a citizenship ceremony, which is an essential part of you becoming a British citizen.

Your invitation letter to attend your citizenship ceremony will be sent to you by email within the next three weeks.

Emails sent from the Nationality Casework teams can arrive at your email account and then may be redirected to your spam/junk email folder/s. These folders should be checked prior to contacting us further.

To limit the chances of an invitation email being redirected to your spam/junk email folder you may wish to add the email address below to your email contact list:

I would get in touch with the council - it doesn't look like these are manufactured.

I called council last week and they said they'll let me know when they've received my certificate.

So if I don't get the approval letter tomorrow should I message FNE again or should I call the council?

As the email I got from citizenship.support@homeoffice.gov.uk on Thursday was the council letter would be sent within 7 days and the approval letter would be sent from 7 to 14 days.
