Evidence of visa extension for Right to work

Post by Mkhc » Thu Oct 03, 2024 12:47 pm

Hello,

Would like some advise please on the below, not sure if this is the correct thread.

My wife will apply for her FLR extension later this month as it is ending. She is in the UK under a family spouse settlement visa.

She is working currently and her work place is asking for proof on her Right to work as her BRP/EVisa is ending this month. Once she applies for the extension I am aware she is able to continue working until a decision is made. But her workplace is asking for the following proof:

You are required to provide:
• Evidence of having applied to extend your visa, no later than the expiration date of your current visa, in the form of an letter from the Home Office; and
• Proof of your application for an extension.

Regarding the first requirement I am under the impression the home office doesn't provide any letters for extending visa? Would anyone know if this is correct?

I have evisa which is ending, would the extension request update on the evisa so it confirms to the employer she can continue to work, and would this be an immediate update as I am planning to apply around the last date of the visa expiry this month.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you
Hussain

I am not sure what the issue is - once you apply for the visa you will receive the relevant email/letters from the HO. Can't action the request from the workplace before she applies and it doesn't seem to me they asked anything about the eVisa.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

Thanks for the response. I understand I will receive an email to confirm the extension application but I am not aware that HO sends a letter confirming the same.

Considering that is what her work place is asking specifically it would be good to know if a letter is sent to the applicant or not. Would appreciate if someone who knows this can confirm please.

The evisa bit I just mentioned just cus you can prove your status via the same so was just adding this point that maybe this is an alternative way of demonstrating the extension but little concerned if they update the status immediately after making the extension application or not. Would be good to know this also if anyone is aware.

Appreciate any support. Thanks.

If you mean a physical letter - they don't. I won't be surprised if workspace doesn't differentiate between letter and email here.

Also, have you looked at employer checking service?
