Expired B2 certificate (Family Route)

Post by andmon » Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:19 am

Hi,

My wife's FLR-M is expiring soon and we hope to apply for ILR. The extension reason for her current visa is:
"You require more time to meet the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK requirements to apply for settlement"

She had failed the LITUK test but had passed the B1 test (from one of the approved centres). The B1 certificate was submitted as part of the current visa application. Would UKVI have noted down that she has passed B1 or would they skipped over that part as they knew she had A2 from the previous visa before that?

As the B1 certifcate is expired, I understand they're no longer able to look up the SELT reference number. I'm hoping they had verified the result when the current visa was applied for though.

Thanks

She already satisfies the English language requirement

Thanks for your reply.

The B2 certificate is more than 2 years old, so I understand it’s no longer sufficient to satisfy the requirement in its own right.

Luckily, we provided the B2 certificate in the supporting evidence for the FLR-M visa she currently has. This wasn’t strictly necessary though as she already would have had the A2 certificate recorded against her record from the visa before that.

My concern is that they might have disregarded the B2 certificate as it wasn’t needed for the visa.

It does not matter. She met the English language at level B1 in a previous application. Also, her expired exam was used in a previous application and so still can be used in a new application (but it is not needed)

Thanks - that’s reassuring!

We just need to focus on getting the LITUK test passed now :)
