Hi All

Do you know what are further steps after getting acknowledgement letter for my daughter(7 years old) citizenship application. How long does it take to get citizenship certificate for her? Thanks

You jsut wait. Months, years...however long it will take.
I think it's a few years now re timelines.

Hi again, just wondering if anyone that has applied for citizenship on behalf of a minor in recent times could share a timeline (no feedback after a couple of months, not even the Garda vetting request), I thought this one would be quicker…
Also, my child will turn 18 later this year and I’m hoping if the naturalisation happens afterwards, I still need to pay just for the “minor” fee.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Hello, I have had made a similar application and am waiting for an update. My child turns 18 in Oct and I have applied for a minor application about Jan 2024. I have received "Submitted" to the Ministry of Justice as the last activity. Any idea what are my next steps?

Hello all, please I need your advise, I submitted application for naturalization on behalf of a minor (My son 17 years of age) using the new online system, I received by email the PDF FORM NVB3 - Vetting Invitation, I will need to fill this form and post it back to the Department of Justice, I have 2 questions

Q1, to which address to post the form? I know that there is a standard address which is
Citizenship Applications
Immigration Service Delivery
Department of Justice
PO Box 73
Tipperary Town
Ireland
BUT which department I should mention beside the word "Citizenship Applications" so it can be routed to the correct team, otherwise it can be lost

Q2, The form didn't ask to include any other documentation to post in addition to the form, but did that happen for anyone before and he discovered that he should have sent additional documents

Don't know if you need to have a consent form with it or did you submit it via online form; include it if needed
Also adult applications used to require a passport copy for eVetting back when it was paper based, so you might want to throw this in

Thank you, Asha.
I have just applied for change of address you may have noticed a new XXX-CITZ-YY format on the acknowledgement, that will be important for further communication.
I shall update if I hear of any updates from my end.

Hello Southernbird, Can you please let me know if you received the "Minor Vetting Form - Parental Consent" by email? if so, did you post it back to the citizenship division? what happened after that? it would be great if you can share timeline if possible. I am asking because we have similar situation that my son is turning 18 on Feb2025

Hi Asha, still haven’t received anything, unfortunately.
Is there anyway I can confirm with them if there’s any issue with the form or maybe the letter was lost?

Should I have received the Garda vetting email anyway even if I missed the confirmation letter?
Thanks

Hi Asha, I finally received confirmation that they were processing the application and another email with the invitation to submit the Garda Vetting form.
Within the Garda vetting submission online form (as you are filling it) there is a link to download NVB3 for parental consent and fill it in. Then you are supposed to upload a copy of the completed NVB3 along with copy of the minor’s passport in order to complete and submit the form.
Of course, the download link wasn’t working (error 404). I reported it so maybe they’ve fixed it now.
To complete the application I downloaded the NVB3 from another source (it’s an administrative standard paper form with the Garda header). It was a bit of a workaround and I hope it’s ok with the application. Will keep you posted.

Hi everyone, returning here to post that the Garda Vetting disclosure is dated a month ago, but no updates since then from Citizenship department… what would be the next step, in the case of a minor, would they just send the Certificate? What are the estimated times here?
Thanks!

For completion : Expect a timeline of 8 to 10 months from the date of applying online

Hello All,

I am now able to see my child application status online using her email-id, pwd, phone number on the Irish Immigration Portal.

As a parent I can confirm you will not be able to see their status on the Irish immigration portal.

Application is now stuck in "Application in Progress". [Application Received, Application Accepted, Application in progress, Application Decision, Application Complete] are the Application stages as per the website.

May I know if we know of any tentative time lines for each of these stages? Our application was submitted in Jan 2024.

Thanks in advance

Hi @pemani4255
I applied for my 17 y.o. and paid fee in April 2024.
Received Garda vetting letter in October and disclosure was completed that month.
Emailed INIS around end of November and they replied that the application was at an advanced stage of processing and I would be informed of the Minister's decision in due course.
How is that you can see all of those stages? Now that my child is 18, do I need to log a new profile to see those?
In the INIS portal I can only see that the application (submission) has been completed, but still waiting…
Has anyone who applied on behalf of a minor in 2024 received a certificate already?
Do you know if I would just receive the cert by AnPost, would they send an email… not sure what to expect.
Thanks

Was your April 2024 application made online or did you submit all the documents in paper form.
I understand the new Immigration portal is not working as well as expected so any information you see online may not reflect the reality of your application.

@Southernbird,

I have been checking for status on the Irish immigration portal. Two applications from my end; one for 16 years old and 18 yrs old now. The application status is visible for my 16yr old and they have declined to update the status of 18yr old (due to IT technical issues) :). So, nothing is straight that we can make out.

As a parent who has applied for minors I expected that their application status will be visible to me. Not the case, I had to register with their own IDs and one works and other does not.

Sorry, I do not have a firm answer! I wish we are told do not login x number days we will let you know when to peep for answers. "application progressing" status does not make sense, when it takes years and years.

Hi, an update to my minor application. Received email acknowledging payment first week of March and it said certificate should be emitted maximum in 4 weeks. Still haven’t received certified post and it’s nearly 2 months. Have emailed Citizenship and waiting on response.

@Southernbird,

Thanks for the update. I have submitted for details online. Now the 16 yr old application became invisible while the other one 18 yrs old appears. A little funny. But, lets me see how it progresses.

As my application is through association I am not expecting it be straight forward unlike yours. We are the from the UK.
